Here are some of the materials sabers can be made with: ALUMINUM Aluminium is a soft, lightweight metal with normally a dull silvery appearance. It has excellent corrosion resistance and durability. Aluminum is the primary material used in most of our sabers. STEEL Steel comes in many forms, and is much heavier than aluminum. It has a greater durability than aluminum, but is more difficult to machine and is more dull in color. BRASS Brass has a yellow color, somewhat similar to gold. It is relatively resistant to tarnishing. COPPER Copper is a reddish-colored metal, with a high electrical and thermal conductivity. Here are some of the finishes available: Saber Types Static Static sabers are primarily used for costuming and display. They contain no working parts are not designed do duel with. Dueling Dueling sabers are designed to withstand the rigors of dueling. Usually a 3/4 inch hole is drilled in the emitter end to hold a polycarbonate or carbon fiber blade. The blade is then held in place by a set screw or knob. LED An LED saber has a powerful Luxeon LED inside that illuminates a 3/4 inch or 1 inch polycarbonate rod which is lined with custom blade film. The light produced makes for one of the brightest blades available. These sabers may be used for dueling also. Here are the 3 watt Luxeon LED colors available. White LED's can be filtered with color disks to produce a variety of different colored blades. Unfortunately when you use the disks the intensity of the blade is not as bright as if you were to use a color LED. Sound Options Nocturne Armory can usually add any after market soundboard to our custom sabers. The most popular would be Master Replicas, Hasbro, and Plecter Labs. Prices Prices for custom sabers vary greatly. A typical LED single bladed saber can range anywhere from $150 to $450 depending on the design and options. Dual bladed sabers can range anywhere from $250 to $650. A design of some sort is needed to give an estimate on the price. |
